So, we're the videographers who make the recap reels for these events, so we've had a behind-the-scenes view for years now. When I say the organizer cares about every person and every detail, I'm not kidding (and I love kidding. Kidding's the best). There are months and months of prep. Copious amounts of communication leading up to the event. We interview the vendors and they only ever have great things to say about the event, and its planner. They're always ecstatic about the amount of foot traffic and interest they're able to drum up, not to mention just how fun the events are all around.

The DFW Camp Expo is such a fantastic resource for families! It’s an amazing idea that brings so many camps and activities together in one place, making it incredibly easy for parents to explore options for their kids. It’s definitely a tool we continue to use year after year, and we’re so grateful it exists for families in the DFW area. Highly recommend attending if you’re looking for great camps and activities for your kids!

Starting with DFW Camp Expo

A family's first step with DFW Camp Expo is usually its online camp directory or a visit to its free yearly expo. The Wylie business says it helps Dallas and Fort Worth area families plan their summer without searching dozens of camp websites. It is open around the clock on weekdays and closed on weekends.

Its website lists 2027 expo dates in February. These include February 13 at WhirlyBall Texas in Hurst and February 20 at Serene Event Center in Plano, both from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, the company states.

Wylie had 63,842 residents in 2025, per the Census Bureau, and sits in Collin County. NOAA normals for 1991 to 2020 put the mean temperature at 65.0 degrees F, with an average high of 75.5 and an average low of 54.5.

Summer, winter and spring break camps

The company describes its directory as covering spring break, summer and winter break camps. At the expo, it says, families meet camp directors and owners of activity businesses in person. Parents can pick up flyers, ask questions and let children see if a camp fits.

Attendees get reserved discounts, and the company reports that vendors often offer deals only at the event. Each expo also gives chances to win free camps. The site says the options run from local small businesses to sleep away programs in other states.

The business holds a 5.0 rating from 7 Google reviews. Reviewers most often mention a well organized and fun event for families, and vendors point to steady traffic at their booths.

A family heading to the expo should have its summer vacation dates ready to compare against camp sessions.
